Action Planning
All UTS faculties, units and institutes are expected to prepare and work to an action plan. Action plans outline planned activities for the next one-three years and how those activities align with the University's strategic plan and priorities.
Preparation of action plans helps guide effort and activity across UTS to deliver the University's strategic direction within budget constraints. Action plans are prepared in parallel with annual budget submissions and area part of the UTS Planning & Improvement Framework.
The action planning cycle operates at two levels:
- Whole of University level: multi year UTS-wide strategic priorities to deliver the strategic plan
- Individual faculty and unit level: multi-year local action plans to deliver the strategic plan.
Both levels of planning build on the previous year's achievements and challenges, and take account of the university and local operating context, identified risks, strategic priorities needing more than one year to achieve, business as usual requirements and annual expenditure targets.
Resources to assist people to undertake action planning are at Action Planning at UTS.
PQU supports faculties and units in their action planning by:
- Preparing guidance material
- Providing consulting advice when requested.
Faculty and unit action planning informs the development of project plans and individual performance and development plans. The Human Resources Unit details this process at their performance and development page.
